Lemonheads - il-kexxun tan-nanna
Is the past ever present in our life? This is the main theme chosen by suReal for their first production:‘ Il-Kexxun tan-Nanna' penned by Gorg Peresso. This production sets the imagination to flow, What's in the drawer? What's so special about this drawer? In the same way we may wonder towards which future our past will take us. Have you ever stopped to wonder that every decision you take shapes your future. It's as if with every decision you take, you choose the road along which you want to travel. And along this new path you'll find your new surroundings made up of either springtime blossoms or autumn dryness. They are all part and parcel of our life, just as the grandmother in the play is always present in the life of her nephew and nieces. Il-Kexxun tan – Nanna represents those secrets and curiosities we all have hidden deep within our soul and which at the end of the day determine the way we look at life. There are so many closed ‘drawers' in our life which we would like to open. We are all forever searching for that special key which will let the drawer open wide and thus give us all the answers we are looking for. But is the answer hidden deep within the dark boundaries of that closed drawer? This never ending search for the truth led these four actors to get together and put up this production. Aldo Zammit, Michelle Zerafa, Lydia Portelli and Rowena Camilleri are four actors who studied theatre together for four years with Lemonhead Productions and directed by Bryan Muscat. During their studies they staged various productions as part and parcel to their course requirements. Now together as suReal they would like to explore different social issues which all of us encounter in everyday life. Sometimes we rarely have time to think about and realize why these issues affect our daily living, our relationships with others, our attitudes & so on. The group's name indicates the love that these four actors have for the unusual. ‘What's real and what's the subconscious?' these two essential parts of life create new questions every day, the answers to which can be found in that special closed drawer we all have in our lives, which might remain closed all our lives. When suReal approached the writer Gorg Peresso with their ideas he was more than pleased with their enthusiasm and penned this original script. The characters represented in this play will surely remind the audience of persons they meet in their everyday life. Peresso's talent is perceived in the way he manages to stimulate the audience, at times with the subtle humour of the characters while at others with the way the audience will start questioning itself about the various aspects this play tackles. Apart from the four actors, Romeo Giacomotto will be playing the violin live thus making this play even more pleasurable and inspiring. Giving a good performance is not suReal's sole aim; they want to provoke discussion among the audience. Thus after the performance the audience is invited to stay along and enjoy some good wine and talk with the actors about any issue the play tackled. This production will be staged at ir-Razzett tal-Markiz , Mosta on the 20th and 21st of September at 8.00pm |
